The presente is used to describe actions or situations in the present and to express general truths:

• Vivo en Wilmington, en Carolina del Norte.
• I live in Wilmington, NC.
• Mi madre y mi hermana tienen un gato.
• My mother and my sister have a cat.

Sometimes the presente is also used to describe actions in the near future:

• Mañana compras una tele nueva.
• Tomorrow you're buying a new television.

The following table does not include all existing irregular verbs in the indicativo presente tense. It provides verbs that are most important and often used in the Spanish language.

Some verbs have individual irregularities which don't resemble the irregularities of other verbs:
